Water Efficient Clothes Washing Machines Keep Costs Down
If you're purchasing a new hi-efficiency clothes washing machine, CRD Water Services has a way for you to reduce water consumption and save money. CRD Water Services is offering homeowners a $100 rebate to install a hi-efficiency clothes washing machine. By using less water, residents will save on water and energy bills all year long.
To Qualify
The SmartWash hi-efficiency clothes washer rebate program recommences January 1, 2009.
Please ensure that your new machine is listed on our qualifying list before you send in your application form.
If you have purchased a qualifying machine, please submit your application to 479 Island Highway, no later than December 31, 2009, to be eligible for the $100 rebate.

The rebate applies to installations in new or existing residential properties which are connected to the municipal water supply serving Greater Victoria, Sooke and designated portions of the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area. Properties on private wells are not eligible.
This offer is available to residential properties only (houses, condos, apartments, townhouses, and duplexes). Common areas are not eligible. Suites must be legal. Commercial properties are not eligible.
Old washing machines must be recycled at either:
- Hartland Recycling Depot, #1 Hartland Avenue. A signed water efficient washing machine recycling receipt must be obtained from an attendant as proof of drop off. There is a $6 charge.
- Steel Pacific Recycling (formerly Budget Steel Ltd), 2770 Pleasant Street, Victoria. A signed water efficient washing machine recycling receipt must be obtained from an attendant as proof of drop off. There is no charge.
- Williams Scrap Iron & Metals Inc., 2690 Munns Road. A signed water efficient washing machine recycling receipt must be obtained from an attendant as proof of drop off. There is no charge.
Note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they have a proper building/plumbing permit where required by the local municipality.
Documentation
To obtain the rebate, the following documentation must be provided.
- Complete the Rebate Application Form (PDF )
- Signed Recycling Receipt from Hartland Recycling (#1 Hartland Avenue), Steel Pacific Recycling (2770 Pleasant Street) or Williams Scrap Iron & Metals Inc.(2690 Munns Road).
- Receipts for proof of appliance purchase.
