Water Efficient Fixtures Keep Costs Down
If you're replacing an old water guzzling toilet in residences built prior to January 1, 2005, CRD Water Services has a way for you to reduce water consumption and save money. CRD Water Services is offering homeowners, property managers and plumbers a $75 rebate per bathroom for installing water efficient toilets. By using less water, residents will save on water and energy bills all year long.
To Qualify
The rebate program applies to installations in residences built prior to January 2005, connected to the municipal water supply in the Greater Victoria and Sooke area and parts of the Juan de Fuca electoral area. Commercial properties, properties on private wells, and new construction are not eligible. Plumbers, property managers and homeowners are eligible, provided they have replaced old water wasting toilet(s) with hi-efficiency toilet(s).
There is a lifetime maximum of 2 rebates per single family home. Property managers and plumbers qualify for a maximum of 2 rebates per residential unit. Toilets in common areas such as laundry rooms do not qualify. Only legal suites qualify.
All toilets must not exceed the maximum flow criteria:
- 6.0 litres/flush, and either CSA, Warnock Hersey Certified or UPC.

Old toilets must be recycled. You must obtain a recycling receipt at either:
- Hartland Recycling, #1 Hartland Avenue. A signed recycling receipt must be obtained from an attendant.
- Metro Waste Paper Recovery Inc., 2800 Bridge Street. A signed Recycling receipt must be obtained from an attendant.
All non-ceramic materials must be removed before recycling.
Note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they have a proper building/plumbing permit where required by the local municipality.
Documentation
To obtain the rebate, the following documentation must be provided.
- Complete the Rebate Application Form (PDF
) - A Recycling Receipt from either Hartland Recycling or Metro Waste Paper Recovery Inc.
- Receipts confirming purchase of fixture (the receipts should include the name and address of the applicant).
Please submit your application and documentation to the address below. Applications must be received in our office no later than December 31, 2009, to be eligible for the $75 rebate.
