Education & Outreach
A range of education and outreach activities are undertaken
by the program with the support of the CRD’s Environmental
Education Division.
Outreach to business includes:
- development and production of guidebooks, brochures and information sheets for code of practice sectors;
- newspaper articles and advertisements;
- presentations and workshops for specific business sectors;
- sector-wide mailouts regarding new information or regulatory changes;
- construction of working models of treatment works for demonstration purposes; and
- information booths and displays at trade shows.
Business Recognition
The program sponsors/supports the Eco-Star Community Environmental Awards evening. Regional Source Control program awards are presented to permit holders and code of practice sector businesses that have demonstrated excellent compliance records over the past year.
Outreach to Residents
Outreach to residents includes:
- development and production of newspaper inserts highlighting residential waste disposal issues (Sewer Smart I and Sewer Smart II); and
- development and production of Eco-Living video clips for release on a local community television station.
