Trent Forcemain Sewer
As the region grows, more and more demand is placed on our main sewer collection lines, many of which have been in constant use since they were installed nearly 100 years ago.
We need to install a new main sewer line to increase capacity within the northeast trunk sewage collection system, which was installed in 1912. The new line will prevent sewage overflow, protect human health, prepare for expected future growth, and safeguard the environment.
The CRD has worked with municipal planning and engineering departments as well as community groups in Victoria and Saanich to review routing options for the new sewer line. Many factors were considered in planning its route, including: topography and land use constraints; end-point constraints; impacts on commuters, neighbourhoods and the environment; ground conditions; and ease of construction.
Together, we have developed the route, which is shown on the map above.
