Hartland Recycling & Salvage
Hartland has its own full-service recycling facility, complete with a section for receiving items for salvage. The depot is intended for residential quantities only and has a maximum GVW of 5,550kg. Just follow the signs to the Recycling Area and drive onto the scale. The cost to enter the facility is $6 per vehicle.
Some items are excluded from this charge. Please refer to our rates for more information.
Items Accepted
- Appliances (white goods) - $20 additional fee for each appliance that contains or contained refrigerants

- Batteries (household, rechargeable and automotive)
- Books (hard and soft cover)
- Cell Phones
- Cooking Oil
- Electronics (Stewardship Program)
- Glass Bottles and Jars
- Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
- Mercury-containing Products (thermometers, thermostats, etc.)
- Metal Containers (tins, aluminum foil, empty aerosol cans)
- Metals-ferrous (wrought iron, casting, steel)
- Metals-non ferrous (lead, copper brass, aluminum)
- Paper Products
- Plastics (clean bags and film) - Pilot Program
- Plastics (large rigid items) - patio furniture, toys - Pilot Program
- Motor Oil (filter and empty oil containers) - max: 10L oil/5 filters
- Paint (for recycling or paint exchange) - max: 10 cans
- Propane Tanks - max: 2 per visit

- Tires and Rims - max: 5 per visit

Salvage Area
The Salvage area at Hartland accepts reusable items that are in working order. These goods are made available to non-profit or charitable organizations for reuse or resale. Scavenging is not permitted.
The following items are accepted at the Salvage area:
- bicycles
- clean, dry textiles (clothing, blankets, etc.)
- computers (tower/case only)
- electric and gas lawnmowers
- garden tools
- kitchen utensils
- microwaves
- radios
- sewing machines
- small appliances
- small solid state television sets (no old vacuum tube TVs)
