The following materials are strictly prohibited from landfill disposal at Hartland:

- asphalt (road material banned, shingles accepted as garbage)
- biomedical waste
- clean soil
- concrete
- corrugated cardboard

- directories

- drywall (in loads weighing more than 100 kg)
