Large Rigid Plastics Recycling
Pilot Program
Hartland landfill receives approximately 3,500 tonnes of rigid plastic items as garbage each year. Many of these materials, such as lawn chairs and toys, are recyclable.
The CRD is conducting a pilot program for the collection of large rigid plastics at the Hartland recycling facility .
The cost to enter the facility with large plastics for recycling is $6.
Items Accepted
- Garden and patio furniture
- Plastic storage containers
- Plastic laundry and garbage containers
- Clean plant pots (all sizes)
- Children's toys (with recycle symbol)
- Empty spools/drums
- Pop and milk crates
- Empty 5 gallon water bottles
- Empty pails (clean)
Items Not Accepted
- Styrofoam
- Plastic items with cement, tar or paint
- Plastics with metal attachments
- Plexiglass
- Corrugated plastic sheeting
- Vinyl siding
