Pedestrian Cycling Master Plan Receives Federal Government Boost
Residents will soon see elements of the CRD's Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan (PCMP) appearing around the region thanks to a contribution of $780,950 from the Federal Government Gas Tax Fund.
To encourage residents to stay active and healthy, the PCMP will build infrastructure that provides a safer, more attractive way for pedestrians and cyclists to travel. Systems that support dual-mode trips such as cycling and transit enhance our transportation network and also contribute to a cleaner environment.
The PCMP also promotes a Rider / Driver Etiquette campaign and a road skills course. Read more ![]()
Bicycle Counts
Based on the successes of the 2011 and 2012 bicycle counts, the 2013 counts have been expanded to a four season count throughout the region. The January results are now available, including maps and fact sheets. Read more ![]()
OD Report Presented at Joint TAC-DPAC Meeting
The 2011 Origin Destination Household Travel Survey was presented by the consultants at a joint meeting of the Regional Transportation Plan Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the Development Planning Advisory Committee (DPAC) meeting on December 11, 2012. Read more ![]()

Review of Transit and Transportation Governance in the CRD
The CRD Board has recommended a review of current transit and transportation governance and an examination of the CRD's responsibility for public transit and other transportation services. One possibility would be for the CRD Board to assume the responsibilities of the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, and increase collaboration and leadership on major transportation decisions that impact the region.

The CRD and BC Transit joint task force received the final report on local funding options for the proposed regional rapid transit.

Pedestrian & Cycling Master Plan
The Regional Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan (PCMP) is being integrated into the Regional Transportation Plan as a key component of sustainable transportation planning. Developed for the CRD, municipalities and key stakeholder agencies, the PCMP will help direct planning and investment decisions that support more walking and cycling in everyday life.
