Bowker Creek is one of the largest watersheds in the CRD’s Core Area. The creek travels through Saanich, Victoria and Oak Bay. By becoming a Bowker Creek Steward you can join members of your community who envision the creek as a healthy, life-sustaining environment and a habitat for native species. Check one or more of the following and pledge to become a watershed steward.
*
1. I pledge the following
Petroleum products and other car related pollutants can harm Bowker Creek watershed ecosystems. I pledge to leave my car at home one day a week.
Pesticides can harm Bowker Creek's aquatic species. I pledge to garden pesticide free.
Runoff from pavement can deposit pollution in Bowker Creek. I pledge to wash my car on my lawn or at a car wash.
Invasive species like English ivy can smother streamside native plants and trees. I pledge to remove invasive species from my property.
Low impact development features such as rain gardens improve the health of the Bowker Creek watershed. I pledge to read about rain gardens and create a rain garden this year.
