PARC Grants-in-Aid Application Form
About Grants-in-Aid
PARC Grants are typically one-time grants to community organizations seeking financial assistance for parks and recreation related projects, which directly provide additional recreational facilities, equipment, services or programs. Under certain circumstances, grants may be applied to ongoing programs offered by a service-provider.
Generally, grants-in-aid are awarded on the basis of demonstrated need in the community, the recognized need of the organization and the service responsibility of the organization. Grants are given for projects or activities which are suitable for the receipt of public tax dollars.
The philosophical foundation for the delivery of publicly sponsored funding is based on a single premise: taxpayers should not be asked to contribute to a publicly sponsored service unless some form of direct or indirect benefit to all residents (sometimes referred to as the "greater public good") is demonstrated.
Grants-in-aid are not meant to replace supplement funding which another agency or governmental level is mandated to provide. Grants will be allocated to complement, not replace, voluntarily raised funds. Approval by the PARC Commission in a public meeting is a requirement before any payments for grants-in-aid are made.
