Services Provided by CRD
The CRD works through local committees and commissions to deliver many services in the Southern Gulf Islands. These services include:
- Drinking Water
- Sewer systems
- Galiano Island Parks and Recreation
- Galiano Island Community Use Building Service (for the Galiano Island Library)
- Pender Islands Parks and Recreation
- Emergency Preparedness Program
- Small Craft Harbours
- Libraries
- Solid Waste Disposal
- Bylaw enforcement, Animal Control
- Fire Protection
- CRD Building Inspection Services
Other Service Providers
Islands Trust administers the area's Official Community Plan and regulates all land use through a Local Trust Area Committee.
Improvement Districts are organizations established by the Province of BC and empowered to carry out limited services such as water or fire protection in rural communities.
