The Southern Gulf Islands of Galiano, Mayne, North and South Pender Islands, Saturna, Piers and associated islands make up an unincorporated rural Electoral Area under the jurisdiction of the Capital Regional District (CRD). The CRD provides many of the local government functions and services normally found in a Municipality or Town, but most of the administrative functions are handled from offices in Victoria.
New Consolidated Bylaw 3654 for North Galiano Volunteer Fire Department new
Late last year the CRD Board determined that a new standardized bylaw is required for all CRD Volunteer Fire Services. Since that time, Director Ken Hancock has been working in consultation with the North Galiano Fire Protection Committee to address any concerns about the updated bylaw. Read more ![]()

Local Services Announcements
Village Point Water and Sewer System, Mayne Island
Village Point Water and Sewer Improvement District has requested CRD Environmental Services Department evaluate the option to take over the assets of the Improvement District and to operate the water and sewer system as new services of the CRD. CRD staff have completed their initial assessments for the sewer and water system and have published the information in two feasibility studies (large files).
