The Ports Manager carries out the day-to-day management functions which include hiring and supervising Wharfingers at each dock. The Wharfingers are responsible for the daily tasks, including collecting moorage fees, maintaining the dock in a clean and safe condition, and generally operating the dock in accordance with regulations and the governing bylaw.
The Ports Manager sets up a Ports Management system, which includes ongoing maintenance and upgrades to the docks. He reports to the Commissions regularly, and is responsible for budgeting, accounting and effective customer relations with citizens, the traveling public, recreational and commercial users and emergency agencies.
