Salt Spring Island Electoral Area

Welcome to Fernwood Drinking Water

The Fernwood Water System provides drinking water to a small Water Service Area on Salt Spring Island. CRD Integrated Water Services is responsible for the overall operation of the water system with day-to-day operation being provided by the CRD Water Management Division. The design and construction of water system facilities is overseen by the CRD Integrated Engineering Division. The quality of drinking water provided to customers in the Fernwood Water System is overseen by the CRD Water Quality Division.

Construction of Highland-Fernwood Water Treatment Plant

Construction of the Highland-Fernwood Water Treatment Plant is now starting with a completion target of April 2012. The plant upgrade will improve the quality of drinking water supplied to customers in both the Highland and Fernwood drinking water systems.

 

The construction contract was awarded to Brunnell Construction Ltd with oversight by Genivar Consulting and CRD. The majority of the construction work will occur at the end of Maycock Road.
