The Regional Planning division is responsible for the following transportation initiatives:
Monitoring & Data Analysis
The division develops indicators for mode share, travel behaviour, greenhouse gas emissions, travel times, etc.
Transportation Planning Framework
Regional Planning oversees the TravelChoices Strategy (adopted by the CRD Board in 2005), including policy updates, implementation projects, and monitoring.
Transportation Projects
The division initiates and coordinates a number of region-wide projects pertaining to sustainable transportation, including the Regional TDM Strategy (in progress), the Pedestrian and Cycling Mater Plan (underway) and the Integrated Regional Corridor Study.
Regional Transportation Model
The division maintains the regional transportation model – TransCAD – which is used to assess travel trends and model transportation scenarios and impacts.
