Welcome to the Regional Sustainability Monitoring Program

Vist the Status Reports for a visually engaging way to explore the sustainability indicators and targets.

The Regional Sustainability monitoring program originated from the Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) indicators, which focus on the growth strategy objectives, planning assumptions, policies and targets. By analyzing data from departments across the CRD, the Status Reports show the monitoring indicators which relate to and demonstrate the CRD's strategic plan priorities and departmental activities and how they contribute to a more sustainable future. The monitoring program is not intended as a comprehensive, community based assessment of quality of life, smart growth, or sustainable development.

The indicators are intended to address three questions:

  • Are we doing what we said we would do?
  • Are we moving toward achieving our targets?
  • Are we making a difference in terms of improving sustainability in the region?

The monitoring program collects data for approximately 50 indicators, chosen from a rigorous analysis and review process in 2004. This site will continue to be updated as the region continues to build its information base.
