During discussions at the third workshop on the Strategy, it was pointed out by several municipal staff that the data in Table 3 of the Appendix, on page 17, “Vacant Residential Land in the CRD” is misleading. According to the footnote #8 at the bottom of p. 10 in the Working Paper, after the BC Assessment data was gathered, some municipalities were asked to review the data to determine whether there was any surplus municipally-owned land that could be made available for housing purposes. Central Saanich and Langford both advised that they had no parcels available and that the land shown in Table 3 as Vacant was parkland. Saanich also advised that the figures were misleading, though there is some vacant surplus municipal land. For full details, please read the footnote cited above.
