Deer Management Deer

The CRD Board of Directors are moving forward with addressing deer issues in the region. On April 11, they appointed a Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) to guide the development of a deer management strategy. The group will make their recommendations to the CRD Board in July 2012.

All input on deer management in the CRD or submissions to the CAG will be received through the deer management Email email.

The CRD and BC Transit joint task force investigating local funding options for the proposed light rail transit (LRT) invite residents to take an online survey. The task force will continue to seek input from the municipalities, stakeholders and the public through upcoming public hearings and a dedicated Email email address and website:

2011 Origin-Destination Household Travel SurveyOrigin Destination logo

The data collection stage of the 2011 Origin Destination Household Travel Survey has now been completed, with 6,000 households completing the survey. R.A. Malatest & Associates are verifying the information collected over the last 10 weeks and will release the preliminary results in late Spring 2012.

The portal will be active through 2012 as we set the direction for growth and development over the next 25 years. As we draft the RSS we will seek further public input. Building Permit Report - Fourth Quarter 2011 building permit report 4th quarter

Construction value for building permits totalled $113.9 million for the fourth quarter, 57% lower than the fourth quarter in 2010, and 36% lower than the third quarter in 2011. While the permit dollar values are significantly lower this quarter compared to the fourth quarter last year, the number of permits issued decreased by only 4%.

Transportation Data Now Available on Google Earthgoogle earth

CRD Regional Planning has released data from its transportation model, using Google Earth to show the 100 busiest bus stops; bicycle, pedestrian and vehicle counts from various points around the region; and congestion levels on major routes for the afternoon peak period.

The Regional Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan (PCMP) is complete and available for viewing. Developed for the CRD, municipalities and key stakeholders to help direct planning and investment to support more cycling and walking in the region. Read more >

2008 RGS State of the Region Report RGS State of the Region Cover

The RGS State of the Region Report (2008) is the third RGS monitoring report since the adoption of the Regional Growth Strategy in 2003 and contains data updated to 2007. It evaluates the progress made in achieving the objectives of the eight RGS initiatives. It will inform the RGS 5-year review in 2012, which will include a transition to the Regional Sustainability Strategy. Read more >

RGS State of the Region Report: Executive Summary Executive Summary Cover

The Executive Summary highlights key issues examined in the RGS State of the Region Report (2008). The Regional Growth Strategy facilitates coordination and cooperation among regional jurisdictions on issues of shared interest and concern. The RGS promotes human settlement that is socially, economically and environmentally healthy and makes efficient use of public facilities and services. Read more >
