The CRD Board of Directors has taken the first step toward a deer management plan for the Capital Regional District. On November 9, 2011, the CRD Board directed staff to develop the terms of reference and report back to the CRD Board in early 2012. A dedicated

Rapid Transit Local Funding Task Force 
Have your say on LRT local funding options. The CRD and BC Transit joint task force investigating local funding options for the proposed light rail transit (LRT) invite residents to take an online survey, with an option to apply (by Feb 5) for upcoming focus groups. 2011 Origin-Destination Household Travel Survey
The data collection stage of the 2011 Origin Destination Household Travel Survey has now been completed, with 6,000 households completing the survey. R.A. Malatest & Associates are verifying the information collected over the last 10 weeks and will release the preliminary results by Spring 2012.

Visit the CRD Sustainability Portal, dedicated to the nine policy briefs that form the basis of the Regional Sustainability Strategy (RSS). The portal will be active through 2011 as we set the direction for growth and development over the next 25 years. As we draft the RSS we will seek further public input. Building Permit Report - Second Quarter 2011 
Second quarter construction value for building permits totalled $228.4 million, approximately 23% more than the second quarter in 2010, and 72% more than the first quarter in 2011.
Permit dollar values were higher this quarter in comparison to the second quarter last year, but numbers of permits issued were down 11%. Permit values increased in the commercial sector, but decreased in the remaining three sectors. Read more ![]()

Transportation Data Now Available on Google Earth
CRD Regional Planning has released data from its transportation model, using Google Earth to show the 100 busiest bus stops; bicycle, pedestrian and vehicle counts from various points around the region; and congestion levels on major routes for the afternoon peak period.
Regional Pedestrian & Cycling Master Plan: Completing Phase 1 
The CRD, its member municipalities and key stakeholders have completed the Regional Pedestrian and Cycling Masterplan (PCMP) to help direct planning and investment decisions to create more opportunities for cycling and walking. Read more ![]()

Urban Futures Demographic Report
CRD Regional Planning recently commissioned a report from Urban Futures called “ A Context for Change Management in the Capital Regional District”. The report provides a 30-year projection for population, employment and housing growth in this region.

Starting in 2009, the Planning, Transportation and Protective Services Committee will be considering the agendas, minutes and reports previously considered by the Planning and Protective Services Committee.
2008 RGS State of the Region Report 
The RGS State of the Region Report (2008) is the third RGS monitoring report since the adoption of the Regional Growth Strategy in 2003 and contains data updated to 2007.
This report evaluates the progress made in achieving the objectives included in the eight RGS initiatives. It tracks a set of indicators which highlight gaps and progress made in the implementation of the RGS and provides information to better inform the RGS 5-year review, scheduled for 2009. RGS State of the Region Report: Executive Summary 
A concise reference pamphlet highlighting some key issues examined in detail in the RGS State of the Region Report (2008).
The Regional Growth Strategy facilitates the coordination and cooperation among the local jurisdictions within the Capital Region on issues of shared interest and concern. Its purpose is to promote human settlement that is socially, economically and environmentally healthy and makes efficient use of public facilities and services.

The Community Indicators Network includes organizations publicly reporting indicator work in the capital region. As an active member in the Community Indicators Network, CRD Regional Planning has agreed to host this web page as a medium for disseminating information on local Community Indicators in the form of a downloadable PDF document. RGS Hearing & Amendment Process
The arbitrator reviewed the final proposals from member municipalities and on December 1, 2008, decided in favour of the District of Highlands' proposal to extend the RUCSPA over approximately 82 hectares in the south portion of the District. The RGS amendment bylaw 3443 will go to the Board in February for third reading and adoption. Read more ![]()
