Albert Head Lagoon Regional Park

Natural History
Sheltered Albert Head Lagoon is almost entirely cut off from the ocean by a long gravel berm. The berm is covered with:
- dune and velvet grasses
- purple beach pea
- plantain
- gumweed
- sand verbena
- other flowering plants
Salt water enters the lagoon at the end of the berm, while seasonal creeks and seepage supply fresh water.
The estuary is an important feeding, breeding and nesting area for ducks, geese, swans and many varieties of migrating birds.
Birds need safe and undisturbed feeding, resting and nesting habitat, especially in cold weather. Please keep your dog under control and on the trail.
