Youth Lessons under the new Tennis Canada Progressive Tennis Model What is Progressive Tennis? Progressive Tennis Introduces the sport of tennis in a fun interactive way and ensures immediate success for young players aged 5-10. Using modified tennis balls, racquets, nets and courts, young players are properly equipped to enjoy rallies and learn the fundamentals of the game early on. Skills are developed much quicker, allowing for easier transition to full court. Tennis Canada fully endorses Progressive Tennis and is developing programs throughout the country.

Rally - Kids Level 1Players can throw underhand and catch with a partner; self rally 5 balls in row using forehand; send a ball with a forehand to a partner; rally 3 balls on a red court; understands ready position; can play a game of throw tennis and starting to learn scoring. Lessons are instructed on a tennis court 1/4 regulation size. |
Ace - Kids Level 1Players can maintain a four rally using forehand and backhand on orange court; start a point with an overhead serve into deuce or ad court on demand; can direct a volley at the net using forehand and backhand; understands footwork and positioning including side shuffle for recovery; knows how to keep score and play a game. Lessons are instructed on a tennis court 3/4 regulation size. |
Slice - Kids Level 1Players can maintain a six rally using forehand and backhand from baseline; start a point with an overhead serve into court; can play the net using forehand and backhand; understands footwork and positioning including side shuffle for recovery; knows how to keep score. Lessons are instructed on a regulation size tennis court. |
Rally - Kids Level 2Players can self rally 5 balls both forehand and backhand; maintain a three ball rally using forehand and backhand; start a point with an overhead serve into court; can play the net using forehand and backhand; understands footwork and positioning including side shuffle for recovery; knows how to keep score. Lessons are instructed on a tennis court 1/4 regulation size. |
Ace - Kids Level 2Players can maintain a six ball rally using forehand and backhand; start a point with an overhead serve to opponents backhand; can play the net using forehand and backhand; understands footwork and positioning including side shuffle for recovery; knows how to keep score and including tiebreaker scoring. Lessons are instructed on a tennis court 3/4 regulation size. |
