Healthy Vending @ Panorama

Although provincial guidelines are still being explored for recreation centres, the Peninsula Recreation Commission, working in conjunction with Ryan Vending and a dietician from the Vancouver Island Health Authority, has now implemented a Healthier Choices program at the Panorama Recreation Centre. In November 2007, products in the various machines throughout the Centre were brought in line with the current schools program.

Panorama’s ratio in the four categories, before and after the product changeover, is approximately as follows:

After Change	46%	26%	7%	21%

Items still remaining in the Not Recommended category include: sports drinks, a significantly reduced number of pop and chocolate bars, coffee and ice cream.

The Commission and staff will continue to work with our service provider to ensure a wide selection of healthy options. Look for the new product offerings the next time you visit.
