Aquatic Complex Grand Opening
Grand Opening Event
The Peninsula Recreation Commission and the Capital Regional District opened the magnificent new aquatic complex at Panorama Recreation Centre (PRC) on Saturday morning in North Saanich. With over 80 dignitaries and 300 guests Panorama staff conducted numerous tours of the facility and by all accounts people loved it. The afternoon was spent conducting three sold out capacity swims. There are lots of fun toys and new features for all to enjoy. Kids will like the Lemon Drop, Kiddie Carwash, Teacup, Bubble Pit, Pipe falls, Lazy River and 300ft Waterslide. Everyone will enjoy the numerous massage jets, hot tub, sauna, swirl and lap pool.
Panorama Recreation is proud to boast the latest technologies that assist us in many aspects of the operation. Temperature and humidity is controlled via a state of the art “predictive” HVAC system. The pool toys are controlled via a central communications room positioned close to all the action. We call this room “The Bridge” due to the resemblance it has to the “Bridge” on Star Trek. The sound system is digital and incorporates “virtual DJ” software that allows easy music mixing and gives Aquafit instructors the option to speed up or slow down the tempo according to the fitness classes they teach. Supervisors have the ability to send a group email and/or text message request for last minute substitutions reducing the time and stress of finding last minute auxiliary shortages. Additionally, Lifeguards and Instructors have access to a computer station where they can find all the information required such as schedules, timesheets, staff log and Reports Forms. Our aquatic staff has doubled as we now employ over 50, mostly local, lifeguards and instructors. The Panorama Recreation Centre is a testament to how innovation and teamwork can result in highest quality of service provision.
