Local Emergency Programs Launch Regional Emergency Preparedness Website

Victoria, BC – Local emergency programs have worked together to develop a new regional emergency preparedness website that provides residents of the Capital Regional District with a single point of access for emergency preparedness information and resources. PrepareYourself.ca contains tips, links to local emergency programs, and is a useful source of information on upcoming emergency preparedness events in the region.

The launch of PrepareYourself.ca coincides with Emergency Preparedness week, a national campaign that is designed to raise public awareness about the importance of being prepared for an emergency. This year’s campaign runs from May 6-12.

To kick off Emergency Preparedness week, CRD Response and Emergency Management programs will be taking part in a Regional Emergency Preparedness Display at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, 1767 Island Hwy, Victoria on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This annual event is hosted jointly by the City of Colwood and the Town of View Royal, and includes displays of emergency vehicles, equipment and information by Police, Fire, Ambulance, Search and Rescue, Emergency Social Services and other emergency services. Residents are encouraged to bring their family down and meet the people who keep their community safe.
