Capital Regional District Receives Award for Human Resources Excellence
Victoria, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) Human Resources team is the proud recipient of the BC Human Resource Management Association’s 2012 Award of Excellence: Innovation. The team was honoured with this award in recognition of its progressive leadership development initiatives, specifically for the integration of leadership development into a wide range of Human Resources programs and initiatives.
A key component of the program is iLead, a comprehensive, interactive leadership program developed in partnership with Royal Roads University. iLead was designed to enhance leadership capacity, align leadership competencies and challenge leaders to change the way they think about their personal approach to leadership. The iLead program focuses on developing individual and collective leadership strengths, as well as immersing leaders in a leadership challenge which actively applies their learning to real life workplace challenges.
To date, eighty eight CRD employees have participated in the program and staff feedback has been very positive. This is demonstrated through the CRD’s most recent employee survey, with employee satisfaction with the CRD leadership team increasing by eleven per cent in just 18 months.The Human Resources team has capitalized on the success of iLead by incorporating the language and concepts learned into other HR programs such as recruitment, performance management, workforce planning and training and development.
“Investing our employees and developing strong leaders is paramount to the continued successes of our organization” said CRD Chief Administrative Officer Kelly Daniels. “The CRD’s Leadership Development Program has been a fundamental component in our continued efforts to develop our employees and build a strong CRD team.”
Human Resources team recipients include: Chris Neilson, Senior manager of Human Resources; Sarah Hood, Workforce Development and Strategies Manager; Human Resources Managers, Mary Stock and Nadine Dillabaugh; and Human Resources Advisors, Angela Maunders and Elaine McMath.
The Award of Excellence: Innovation is sponsored by The Globe and Mail and recognizes an individual or team that has successfully implemented an innovative and progressive program and/or project to a new or ongoing Human Resources challenge or opportunity
