Household hazardous waste, or HHW, is any toxic product located within your home that poses a threat to public health and environmental safety when handled, stored and/or disposed of improperly. Such items include: pesticides, paint, paint aerosols, used motor oil and containers, used oil filters, flammable liquids, gasoline, batteries, etc.
When pesticides are no longer needed on your lawn and garden, dispose of leftover products in an environmentally responsible way.

Disposal Tips
Do not dump pesticides into the garbage as these chemicals will eventually leach out of the landfill and enter the natural environment.
Do not flush pesticides down your toilet, sink or drain. These chemicals can harm septic systems and contaminate the natural environment.
Do not pour or hose pesticides down storm drains. Rainwater will mix with chemicals that will harm our watershed, flowing unchecked into the region's creeks, streams, lakes and eventually the Pacific Ocean.

How to Transport Pesticides
Bring in pesticides in their original containers, with lids securely fastened and unmixed with any other product.
