Search & Rescue in the CRD
The CRD has two Search and Rescue (SAR) teams in the electoral areas. Both teams have highly trained personnel dedicated to providing service throughout our region.
Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue (JDF SAR)
This team provides organized, methodical inland waters and ground search and rescue services to the entire JDF electoral area. The JDF SAR team is a trained and certified group of over 30 volunteers that also provide mutual aid to other SAR teams, local RCMP, and ambulance services when requested. Read more 
Salt Spring Island Search and Rescue (SSI SAR)
Salt Spring Island has a dedicated, well-trained SAR team that operates as an independent society and is funded by the CRD. The team of volunteers works in partnership with the CRD and response agencies such as the RCMP, BC Ambulance, and the Fire Department, to provide a high quality of service to the residents of Salt Spring Island.
