Emergency Programs in the Electoral Areas

The Capital Regional District acts as the local government for the electoral areas of Juan de Fuca, the Southern Gulf Islands, and Salt Spring Island.

Juan de Fuca Electoral Area

Emergency Program

The Juan de Fuca Emergency Program (JDFEP) provides comprehensive support, planning and management of emergency response in the Electoral Area through the operation of Emergency Social Services. Read more >

Committee

The Emergency Program provides planning and management of an emergency response plan for the JDF area. It was created in response to the Emergency Program Act. Read more >

Volunteers provide the main base for strong fire protection in each Fire Protection area, with committees in various communities coordinating volunteer fire protection. Read more >

Emergency Program

The Southern Gulf Island Emergency Program (SGIEP) is a strong and vibrant organization consisting of over 500 volunteers, assisting the public in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from 18 identified hazards in our area. Read more >

CRD Protective Services provides fire protection on the Southern Gulf Islands, with the exception of Mayne and Piers islands, where it is provided by a local Improvement District. Read more >
