About Emergency Planning & Protective Services
The CRD has many emergency planning and protective services in place to ensure the safety of our residents. These include regional programs, such as Hazardous Material (Hazmat) Response, and community-specific programs, such as local fire departments.
While the CRD provides a high level of service in emergency management, the most effective source of preparedness starts with the individual. Tips and information on what you can do to prepare for an emergency or disaster can be found in our Personal Preparedness section.
A description of the services that are offered by the CRD for emergency planning and response services can be found in our Emergency Services section.
Information about other emergency programs, including links to local programs in your community can be found in our Emergency Programs section.
Within the CRD, the Protective Services Department oversees emergency management and the Senior Manager of Protective Services is also the appointed Emergency Manager for the Capital Regional District.
