Conserve Drinking Water
The CRD's industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) sector uses about 15 billion litres of water per year, which is nearly 30% of all municipal water use in the Capital Region. With the CRD's help businesses can audit water consumption for free access grants and rebates and learn about water efficiency and conservation.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

The CRD provides residential curb site recycling services only, however our online recycling guilde contains information on the recycling and proper disposal of many common business wastes. Most commercial contractors who collect garbage from businesses also offer recycling services. Hartland also accepts many materials for recycling. Read more

Manage Trucked Liquid Waste
Oil, grease and contaminated sediments do not belong in our streams, creeks or the ocean. Devices such as parking lot and car wash catch basins help collect these wastes, preventing them from entering our waterways. Protect Drinking Water from Backflows
The CRD's Cross Connection Control Program protects public health by reducing the potential for a backflow of a contaminant into the region's drinking water supply system. Backflows can happen when preventor valves aren't installed or cross connections exist. Installing backflow protectors is a requirement on institutional, commercial and industrial facilities.
