Building Permit Fees
There are two fees associated with the permit application process. A processing fee is paid at the time of application, and a permit fee is paid when the permit is issued.
The processing fee is non-refundable and will be credited against the building permit fee when the permit is issued. Cheques are payable to Capital Regional District or CRD.
Processing Fees
Processing fees are based on construction values.
- $100 (construction value of less than $50,000)
- $200 (construction value between $50,000 & $200,000)
- $300 (construction value greater than $200,000)
Permit Fees
Building permit fees are based on the total value of the work proposed, and are calculated by the building inspector according to a fee schedule (shown below). Construction values are standardized and listed in appendices L and M.

There are separate fees for chimneys, stoves, water/septic connections, installation of plumbing fixtures and demolition, listed on the appropriate application form.
