Applying for a Permit
To apply for a permit, you must submit a completed application form along with supporting documents to the CRD Building Inspection office applicable to your property.
Information requested may include a set of drawings showing the project in detail, a Survey Certificate, proof of Home Warranty Insurance, or other documentation. Your Building Inspector should be consulted early on in your project planning in order to advise you on the exact needs of your particular application.
You may apply in person or by representative to the Building Inspection office.

Application Requirements
Before applying for a building permit, make sure your proposed project meets the following requirements.
- your property is correctly zoned for the intended use
- your property is registered at the Land Title Office
- your property is accessible by an approved access
- your building plans conform to the building bylaw, zoning bylaw, the development permit or approved variances to the bylaw
- your application form has been completed and signed by the property owner or representative, all other requirements met, and permit fees paid in full
