IDEA GRANTS - Update

The CRD Arts Committee recently passed a motion to increase the maximum IDEA Grant award to $1500. The guidelines and application form will be updated shortly. The next IDEA Grant deadline is Thursday, March 1, 2012.

Arts Advisory Council Appointments

The CRD seeks a volunteer to serve on the Arts Advisory Council. The AAC adjudicates funding programs and provides advice to the CRD on issues relating to the arts in the capital region. Application deadline is Friday, January 20, 2012 at 4:30pm.

New! Arts and Culture Contributes $170 Million to Economy

Victoria, BC – Five organizations announced the results of an economic activity study done on arts and culture in Greater Victoria today, showing that the sector generated total economic activity of $170 million in 2010.

The CRD provides funding for organizations whose primary mandate is arts programming through Project Grants. A new program - IDEA Grants (Innovate, Develop, Experiment, Access) - provides funding for non-arts mandated organizations to build their arts programming capacity. Our Mission - Arts Development Service

The Capital Regional District (CRD) will develop and maintain policies and systems that will promote a healthy and vibrant arts community.

The CRD Arts Development Service supports eligible, not-for-profit arts organizations through operational and project funding. IDEA grants support arts participation by organizations not eligible for other CRD programs. Applicant organizations must be based in one of the following municipalities who contribute to the CRD Arts Service: the City of Victoria, District of Saanich, Municipality of Oak Bay, Township of Esquimalt, Town of View Royal, Town of Sidney, and municipalities of Highlands and Metchosin.

CRD Arts Development is also a founding donor of the Golden Jubilee Arts Fund, which is managed by the Victoria Foundation.

CRD Arts Advisory Council & Committee

The CRD Arts Advisory Council is a volunteer committee who provide advice on arts policy and program development for the Capital Region. They are also responsible for the adjudication of applications to the project and operational support programs. The Advisory Council is appointed by the CRD Arts Committee.
