How to Apply - Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have any positions available?
All positions currently available with the CRD (Capital Regional District) may be obtained on this web site. There is also a Job Vacancy Bulletin Board in our public office located at 625 Fisgard Street in downtown Victoria, BC, Canada.
Notes:
- The CRD HR Department ONLY receives and retains resumes for posted or advertised vacancies.
- The CRD HR Department is only able to provide information on posted opportunities and generally is unable to provide general career development advice.
How do I apply for positions with the CRD?
To apply for an advertised or posted vacancy with the CRD, you must submit a resume with a covering letter specifying the competition number for the particular position you wish to apply to. Applications may be submitted by various means as outlined below, however we strongly recommend that you submit your application online as it will be received immediately.
If you are not able to apply online, we do accept applications that are:
- drop-off applications to Capital Regional District, 625 Fisgard Street, main reception
- fax to Capital Regional District, Human Resources: 250.360.3076
- mail to Capital Regional District, Human Resources, PO Box 1000,
625 Fisgard Street, Victoria, BC, V8W 2S6
Do I have to apply separately for every vacancy advertised?
Yes, each position is considered separately. If you wish to apply for more than one position, you would submit separate resumes and covering letters, quoting the competition number for each vacancy.
Do you have temporary, part time, summer, or seasonal work available?
Occasionally, the CRD may post and advertise vacancies for temporary, part time, students/co-op, and/or seasonal work. Again, these vacancies will be noted on our Job Bulletin Board and this web site.
(I) We have some temporary positions that come available from time to time, for periods of short duration, e.g. vacation relief, sick relief.
(II) Advertising for summer staff generally begins in February/March, but may start earlier depending on requirements. Positions usually include (e.g.) parks and recreation activities, technical assistance, etc.
Will I be contacted, if I apply on a competition?
Only those applicants that are being actively considered for an interview will be contacted. If you have not heard from the CRD within one month, you are not being 'short-listed' for an interview. The status of closed positions can be found on this web site.
I'm not a Canadian Citizen ... Can I apply for work with the CRD?
Applicants seeking employment within the CRD must be legally eligible to work in Canada with the proper federal government permits and documentation. Information on this matter is available on the following Federal Government Citizenship and Immigration web site.
